I’m sure that everyone has their own preference but I, along with 30% of the internet, use WordPress and LOVE IT. Here’s why:

#1 WordPress is Free and Open Source

I love free things. Who doesn’t? Well WordPress is an open source software, meaning that it’s free to use and edit. You can use it for personal or business website designs and is completely free forever.

According to DeviousMedia, WordPress has fewer setup, customization, and maintenance costs in comparison to other Open Source CMS like Drupal and Joomla. As it is open source and very popular it is much easier to find affordable wordpress website designers like myself.

#2 Create any website with WordPress

WordPress may have started as a blog publishing platform, but it has grown so much since then! With such a huge variety of themes and plugins available you can create any website you want such as:

  • eCommerce websites like Amazon
  • Membership websites like Udemy
  • Video websites like YouTube or Vimeo
  • Photgraphy websites like Flikr.com
  • A knowledge base like Wikipedia
  • A question and answer forum like Quora.
  • A directory website like the Yellow Pages or Justeat

#3 WordPress is SEO Friendly

Search engines like Google or Bing will feature websites from 1st to last place on their websites depending on lots of different factors. The better your website fulfils these factors or is “optimized” for search engines (SEO) then the higher up in the ranks it will be placed.

Not only does the WordPress CMS make it much easier to optimize websites for SEO, but there are a huge range of plugins available to help.

Some crucial SEO requirements from CMS:

  • Fast Loading Speed: WordPress is optimized to load quickly, which is a key thing that search engines analyse.
  • Good Coding Standard: WordPress has been constantly worked on and updated since 2003 by expert developer to make sure the standard built into it is of top quality.
  • User Experience: WordPress is fully optimized to work good on multiple devices, browsers, and systems. In fact, themes coming in are are also fully responsive.
  • Navigation: It is very easy to navigate WordPress websites with the easily accessible menus, tags, categories and widgets.
  • XML Sitemap: Easily generate and submit sitemap to search engines. It helps them recognize the structure of your site content.
  • Image Optimization: Adding Title & Alt Tags in images takes no time. So you don’t feel any burden to optimize your images for good ranking of your post/page.
  • Social Media Integration: Search engines give importance to sites getting good traffic from social networking sites. That’s why WordPress supports social media integration.

#4 WordPress is easy to use

It’s easy to get started with WordPress with a one-click install, and plenty of tutorials and articles out there to help you get a basic website or blog up and running.

#5 WordPress is easy to customize

With 30% of the internet being powered by WordPress you better believe that it’s easy to customize, otherwise 1 in every 4 websites would look the same! Even the most basic users can customize their websites, change  colours, and add features.

#6 Huge WordPress Community

WordPress has a massive community of active users and developers, that are always there to help. The WordPress forums have millions of solved queries on them, and there are many other forums out there for anyone who is looking for help. I can tell you they’ve helped me quite a few times over the years.

#7 WordPress is very safe

Along with the good coding standards from #3, WordPress developers are continuously improving the security side of things. We live in a world with more and more hackers out there trying to find loopholes to get into sites built with WordPress. However, as long as you are keeping your version of WordPress and plugins updated then WordPress is perfectly safe.

If you’re not an expert WordPress user then it can be safer to have someone who is maintain your website for you. Why not check out my website maintenance packages?

#8 WordPress integrates with Everything!

Nowadays it’s so important that things integrate with eachother, so that we can continue doing more with less time. WordPress allows you to do so much itself, and for things it doesn’t do it will have a plugin to integrate with some that does!

  • Mailchimp: Want people who sign up to your blog to be added to a mailing list?
  • Hubspot: Want users to be added to your Hubspot CRM?
  • to: Want to have an online chat that works from your phone?
  • Gravity Forms: Want a contact form?
  • WooCommerce: Want to sell things and have a shopping cart?
